Bend sits at the eastern edge of the Cascade Range about 25 miles from Mt. Bachelor Ski Area with the Deschutes River running through the city. With a combination of Ponderosa Pine Forests at the south end to lush riverside growth downtown to an arid high desert landscape to the North dotted with junipers, sagebrush and bitter-brush, Bend’s landscape is as varied as its real estate properties.
Originally Bend was just a point to cross the river, but settlement began at the turn of the century. Initially Bend was a logging town, now it is Central Oregon’s gateway to just about every outdoor sport – including rock climbing, golfing, downhill skiing, snowboarding, back country skiing, dogsledding, fly fishing, camping, hiking, boating, kayaking, white water rafting – and more…
Redmond is literally at the geographic heart of Central Oregon. Just 20 miles north of Bend; Redmond provides access to the same wide variety of outdoor recreational activities as Bend, Oregon. It is however significantly closer to Smith Rock, and is also the home of the Regional Airport and the Eagle Crest Resort.
Sunriver is a year round destination resort for those looking for abundant outdoor activities right out your front door. 15 Miles south of Bend; Sunriver is 3300 acres of beautiful high desert living nesteled between the Newberry Caldera and the Cascade Mountain Range. Home to world class golf courses, multiple tennis courts, 20+ miles of paved bike paths, with the Deschutes River meandering to the west and near Mt. Bachelor.
